Quick Facts about Brigadoon Lodge

WHAT: Brigadoon Lodge is a favorite fly fishing destination for anglers from around the world. Renowned for stream-bred, trophy-sized rainbow and brown trout, tranquil setting, appealing accommodations, pristine waters and well-groomed trails.

WHEN: Site purchased in 1989 as private residence. Converted to fly fishing lodge in 1995.

WHERE: Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains along a private stretch of the Soque (pronounced So-QWEE) River in the northeast corner of Georgia. Less than 100 miles north of Atlanta, GA

WHO: Founded by former Wall Street executive Rebekah Stewart. Stewart continues to own and operate Brigadoon, working with team of highly experienced guides.

CLIENTELE: Featuring deep runs, as well as fast moving waters, Brigadoon offers a challenge to novice and seasoned anglers alike. Guests range from CEOs and celebrities to heads of state, athletes, media moguls and avid fly fishermen.

OF NOTE: The Brigadoon Lodge site is surrounded on all four sides by the Chattahoochee National Forest.

Brigadoon is strictly a catch-and-release fly fishing operation – with barbless hooks and no landing nets.

Studies show that the Brigadoon stretch of the Soque has the second highest number of trout per mile in the U.S.(6500) with an average size of 20 inches and 8.5 pounds.

Land and water management techniques including structure, aeration dams, under- pruning, pool shaping and clearing of springs have preserved the cover on the river – contributing to Brigadoon’s uniquely perfect trout habitat. The opposite bank is a sheer rock cliff that further protects the water from the sun.

Well groomed trails run between the various pools within the river, flecked with ancient hemlocks, rhododendron and mountain laurel.

Additional river property and a new lodge were acquired in 2001 to the immediate north of the main lodge. After three years of property improvements and enhancements, this new section is now open for fishing.
